케임브릿지 사전은 'bracer'를 "a drink of alcohol, usually taken before doing something difficult or unpleasant(대개 어렵거나 불쾌한 일을 하기 전에 마시는, 알코올 음료)"라고 정의했다.

"He was in the habit of taking a couple of bracers before heading out for the evening(그는 저녁에 나가기 전, 원기 회복제로 술을 한두 잔 마시는 버릇이 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'bracer'를 "a tonic, esp an alcoholic drink taken as a tonic(강장제, 특히 강장제로 마시는 알코올 음료)"이라고 설명했다.
