케임브릿지 사전은 'pallor'를 "the state of being very pale(아주 창백한 상태)"이라고 정의했다.

"The deathly pallor of her skin was frightening(그녀의 피부는 얼마나 곧 죽을 사람처럼 창백한지 무서울 정도였다)."

콜린스 사전은 'pallor'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you refer to the pallor of someone's face or skin, you mean that it is pale and unhealthy(어떤 사람의 얼굴이나 피부를 pallor라고 표현한다면, 그것이 창백하고 건강하지 못하다는 뜻이다)."
