케임브릿지 사전은 'ramp sth up'을 "to increase the speed, power, or cost of something(어떤 것의 속도, 힘, 또는 비용을 올리다)"이라고 정의했다.

"Announcement of the merger is expected to ramp up share prices over the next few days(합병 소식을 발표하면 다음 며칠간 주가를 올릴 것으로 기대된다)."

"Mitsubishi has ramped up the speed of its new micro-controllers(미츠비시는 새 마이크로 콘트롤러의 속도를 올렸다)."

콜린스 사전은 'ramp up'을 "to increase or cause to increase(어떤 것을 증가시키거나 증가하게 하도록 만들다)"라고 설명했다.

맥밀란 사전은 'ramp up'을 "to increase, or to increase something such as a rate or level, especially the rate at which goods are produced(비율이나 수준 같은 것, 특히 상품이 생산되는 비율을 증가시키다)"라고 풀이했다.

"Operations quickly ramped up(생산은 급격히 증가했다)."

"We’ve had to ramp up production to meet demand(요구량을 맞추기 위해 생산량을 증가시켜야 했다)."
