케임브릿지 사전은 'romp'를 "to play in a rough, excited, and noisy way(거칠게, 신나게, 시끄럽게 놀다)"라고 정의했다.

"The children romped happily around/about in the garden(아이들은 정원에서 즐겁게 뛰놀았다)."

콜린스 사전은 'romp'를 이렇게 설명했다. "When children or animals romp, they play noisily and happily(아이들이나 동물이 romp할 때, 그들은 시끄럽고 즐겁게 노는 것이다)."

"Dogs and little children romped happily in the garden(개들과 어린아이들은 정원에서 즐겁게 뛰놀았다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'romp'를 이렇게 풀이했다. "if children or animals romp, they play or move around in a lively and often noisy way(아이들이나 동물들이 romp한다면, 명랑하고 대개 시끄럽게 놀거나 돌아다니는 것이다)"
