케임브릿지 사전은 'daub'을 "to spread a thick or sticky liquid on something or to cover something with a thick or sticky liquid, often quickly or carelessly(대개 재빨리, 또는 조심성 없이, 걸쭉하거나 찐득한 액체를 어떤 것 위에 펴바르거나 어떤 것을 걸쭉하거나 찐득한 액체로 덮다)"라고 정의했다.
