케임브릿지 사전은 'harried'를 "worried and angry, especially because people keep wanting things from you(특히 사람들이 계속해서 당신에게 뭔가를 원하기 때문에 걱정이 되고 화가 난)"라고 정의했다.

"I saw a harried-looking mother at the checkout trying to manage two small children and a mountain of shopping(나는 계산대에서 두 아이와 산더미 같은 장 본 물건들을 챙기느라 곤란해 보이는 어머니를 보았다)."

"He spent the day feeling harried and unproductive(그는 곤란해하고 비생산적으로 하루를 보냈다)."

콜린스 사전은 'harried'를 "stressed or harassed(스트레스를 받거나 괴로운)"라고 설명했다.
