[영어 공부] glow((기쁨, 만족감에 얼굴 등이) 빛나다[눈부시다])

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'glow'를 "to look attractive because you are happy or healthy, especially with eyes that are shining(행복하거나 건강해서, 특히 눈이 빛나며 매력적으로 보이다)"이라고 정의했다.

"The children's faces were glowing with excitement(아이들의 얼굴은 신이 나서 빛나고 있었다)."

"They came back from their week at the beach, glowing with health(그들은 해변가에서 일주일을 보내고 돌아왔고, 건강하게 빛나고 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'glow'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If someone's skin glows, it looks pink because they are healthy or excited, or have been doing physical exercise(피부가 빛난다면, 건강하거나 신이 나서, 또는 육체적 운동을 했기 때문에 분홍빛으로 보이는 것이다)."
