케임브릿지 사전은 'the tail end'를 "the final part(마지막 부분)"라고 정의했다.

"I only saw the tail end of the news(나는 뉴스의 마지막 부분밖에 못 봤다)."

"She was at the front of the queue but I was at the tail end(그녀는 줄의 앞에 서 있었지만, 나는 끄트머리에 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'tail end'를 이렇게 설명했다. "The tail end of an event, situation, or period of time is the last part of it(어떤 사건, 상황, 또는 시간의 tail end는 그것의 마지막 부분이다)."
