[영어 공부] dexterous(손재주가 비상한, 솜씨 좋은)

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'dexterous'를 "having the ability to perform a difficult action quickly and skilfully with the hands(어려운 활동을 손을 가지고 재빨리, 솜씨 좋게 할 수 있는 능력을 가진)"라고 정의했다.

"a dexterous movement(손재주가 비상한 움직임)"

"Baseball players have to be fast and dexterous(야구 선수는 빠르고 손재주가 좋아야 한다)."

"Raccoons have highly dexterous front feet that are shaped like human hands(미국너구리들은 아주 손재주가 좋은, 사람의 손처럼 생긴 앞발을 가지고 있다)."

콜린스 사전은 'dexterous'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Someone who is dexterous is very skilful and clever with their hands(dexterous 한 사람은 아주 솜씨가 좋고 손을 잘 쓰는 사람이다)."

"As people grow older they generally become less dexterous(사람들은 나이가 들면서 대체로 손재주가 퇴화한다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'dexterous'를 "able to use your hands skilfully(손을 솜씨 좋게 사용할 수 있는)"라고 풀이했다.
