[영어 공부] à la(…류[풍]의[으로], …식의[으로])

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'à la'를 "in the style of(~의 스타일대로)"라고 정의했다.

"She has her hair blonde and curly, à la Marilyn Monroe(그녀는 마릴린 먼로 스타일로 머리를 금발에 구불구불하게 했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'à la'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you do something à la a particular person, you do it in the same style or in the same way that they would do it(à la 어떤 특정한 사람으로 어떤 것을 하면, 그것을 똑같은 스타일, 또는 그들이 하는 대로 똑같이 하는 것이다)."

"...embracing the discoveries of science à la Galileo(...갈릴레오 스타일의 과학 발견의 포용)." 

롱맨 사전은 'à la'를 "in the same style as someone or something else(어떤 사람 또는 사물과 똑같은 스타일로)"라고 풀이했다.
