케임브릿지 사전은 'otherworldly'를 "more closely connected to spiritual things than to the ordinary things of life(삶의 평범한 것들보다 영적인 것에 더욱 밀접하게 관련돼 있는)"라고 정의했다.

"The children in the picture look delicate and otherworldly, as though they had never run or played(사진 속 아이들은 마치 한 번도 달리거나 놀아본 적 없는 것처럼, 연약하고 저세상의 존재 같았다)."

콜린스 사전은 'otherworldy'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Otherworldly people, things, and places seem strange or spiritual, and not much connected with ordinary things(otherworldly한 사람, 사물, 그리고 장소들은 낯설거나 영적이고, 평범한 것과 별로 관련이 없는 것이다)."

"They encourage an image of the region as an otherworldly sort of place(그들은 그 지역의 이미지를 일종의 초자연적인 곳으로 그리기를 권장한다)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'otherworldly'를 "concerned with spiritual thoughts and ideas rather than with ordinary life(평범한 삶보다는 영적인 사고와 아이디어와 관련된)"라고 풀이했다.
