케임브릿지 사전은 'meld'를 "to (cause something to) combine with something else((어떤 것으로 하여금) 다른 것과 혼합(되게) 하다)"라고 정의했다.

"Several problems had melded together(여러 가지 문제들이 합쳐졌다)."

"He took folk music and melded it with pop(그는 포크 음악을 팝과 혼합했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'meld'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If several things meld, or if something melds them, they combine or blend in a pleasant or useful way(여러 가지가 meld한다면, 또는 어떤 것이 그것들을 meld한다면, 유쾌하거나 유용하게 혼합하거나 어우러지는 것이다)." 포멀(formal)한 표현이다.

"She sang the first verse again, listening to the way the words melded with the music(그녀는 가사가 음악과 어우러지는 걸 들으며 1절을 다시 불렀다)." 

"Leave for 30 minutes for the flavors to meld(맛이 잘 어우러지도록 30분간 놓아둡니다)." 

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'meld'를 "to combine with something else; to make something combine with something else(다른 것과 혼합하다; 어떤 것을 다른 것과 혼합되게 하다)"라고 풀이했다.
