케임브릿지 사전은 'trawl'을 "to search among a large number or many different places in order to find people or information you want(당신이 원하는 사람들 또는 정보를 찾으려고 많은 양의 또는 다양한 장소를 수색하다)"라고 정의했다.

"The software is used to trawl for information on the internet(그 소프트웨어는 인터넷에서 정보를 찾는 데 사용된다)."
