케임브릿지 사전은 'festoon'을 "to decorate a room or other place for a special occasion by hanging coloured paper, lights, or flowers around it, especially in curves(색종이, 전구, 또는 꽃 등을 특히 곡선으로 달아서 특별한 행사를 위해 방이나 다른 장소를 장식하다)"라고 정의했다.

"The hall was festooned with Christmas lights and holly(그 회관은 크리스마스 전구와 호랑가시나무로 장식돼 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'festoon'을 이렇게 설명했다.
