케임브릿지 사전은 'editorialize'를 "to express a personal opinion, especially when you should be giving a report of the facts only(개인적인 의견을 표현하다, 특히, 사실만을 담은 기사를 써야 할 때 그렇게 하다)"라고 정의했다.

콜린스 사전은 'editorialize'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If someone editorializes, they express their opinion about something rather than just stating facts; mainly used in contexts where you are talking about journalists and newspapers(어떤 사람이 editorialize 한다면, 사실만을 서술하기보다 자신의 의견을 표현하다; 저널리스트와 신문에 관해 말하는 맥락에서 주로 쓰인다)."
