케임브릿지 사전은 'on the fritz'를 "broken or not working(고장 난, 또는 작동하지 않는)"이라고 정의했다/

"The fridge is on the fritz(냉장고가 고장 났다)."

콜린스 사전은 'on the fritz'를 "(of an appliance, etc) broken or malfunctioning((기기 등이) 고장 난 또는 제대로 작동하지 않는)"이라고 설명했다.

"The fridge is on the fritz again(냉장고가 또 고장 났어)."

롱맨 사전은 'be/go on the fritz'를 이렇게 풀이했다. "if something is or goes on the fritz, it is not working correctly(어떤 것이 be/go on the fritz 한다면, 제대로 작동하지 않는 것이다)"

"My TV is on the fritz(내 TV가 고장 났다)."
