케임브릿지 사전은 'ensconce'를 "to make yourself very comfortable or safe in a place or position(어떤 장소나 위치에서 스스로를 아주 편안하거나 안전하게 하다)"이라고 정의했다.

"After dinner, I ensconced myself in an armchair with a book(저녁 식사 후 나는 책 한 권을 들고 안락의자에 편히 자리잡았다)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'ensconce'를 이렇게 설명했다. "if you are ensconced or ensconce yourself somewhere, you are made or make yourself comfortable and safe in that place or position(어떤 곳에 be ensconced 하거나 ensconce yourself 한다면, 그 장소 또는 위치에서 편안하고 안전하게 되는, 또는 스스로 그렇게 하는 것이다)"
