케임브릿지 사전은 'communiqué'를 "an official piece of news or an announcement, especially to the public or newspapers(특히 대중에게, 또는 신문에 하는, 공식적 뉴스나 발표)"라고 정의했다.

"The palace has issued a communiqué denying the rumour(왕실은 그 소문을 부정하는 공식 성명을 발표했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'communiqué'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A communiqué is an official statement or announcement(communiqué는 공식적인 성명 또는 발표이다)." 격식을 차린(formal) 표현이다.

"The communiqué said military targets had been hit(공식 발표에 따르면 군(軍) 목표는 명중했다)." 

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'communiqué'를 "an official statement or report, especially to newspapers(특히 신문에 내는, 공식적 발표 또는 보고서)"라고 풀이했다.

"The leaders attending the conference have issued a joint communiqué(콘퍼런스에 참석하는 지도자들은 합동으로 공식 성명문을 냈다)."
