케임브릿지 사전은 'billow'를 "to spread over a large area, or (esp. of items made of cloth) to become filled with air and appear to be larger(더 넓은 지역에 퍼지다, 또는 (특히 직물로 만들어진 것이) 공기로 채워져서 더 크게 보이다)"라고 정의했다.

"The building is draped in blue plastic sheeting that flaps and billows like a sail(그 건물은 파란색 플라스틱 시트로 덮여서 바람에 돛처럼 부풀어 올랐다)."
