[영어 공부] ingrained(뿌리 깊은, 깊이 몸에 밴)

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'ingrained'를 "(of beliefs) so firmly held that they are not likely to change((믿음이) 아주 단호하게 지켜져서 바뀔 것 같지 않은)"라고 정의했다.

"Such ingrained prejudices cannot be corrected easily(그렇게 뿌리 깊은 편견은 쉽게 교정될 수 없다)."

"The belief that you should own your house is deeply ingrained in our society(자신의 집을 가져야 한다는 믿음은 우리 사회에 뿌리 깊게 박혀 있다)."

콜린스 사전은 'ingrained'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Ingrained habits and beliefs are difficult to change or remove(ingrained한 습관과 믿음은 바꾸거나 없애기 어려운 것이다)."

"Morals tend to be deeply ingrained(도덕은 깊이 몸에 밴 경향이 있다)." 
"From ingrained habit he paused to straighten up the bed(몸에 밴 습관으로 그는 침대를 정리하기 위해 잠시 멈추었다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'ingrained'를  이렇게 풀이했다. "an ingrained attitude, belief, or habit has existed for a long time and cannot easily be changed(ingrained한 태도, 믿음, 또는 습관은 오랫동안 존재했으며 쉽게 바뀔 수 없는 것이다)."
