케임브릿지 사전은 'dashing'을 "attractive in a confident, exciting, and stylish way(자신감 넘치고, 흥미진진하고, 스타일리시하게 매력적인)"라고 정의했다.

"a dashing young soldier(근사한 젊은 군인)"

콜린스 사전은 'dashing'을 이렇게 설명했다. "A dashing person or thing is very stylish and attractive(dashing한 사람 또는 사물은 아주 스타일리시하고 매력적인 것이다)." 

"He was the very model of the dashing RAF pilot(그는 근사한 영국 공군 파일럿의 본보기였다)." 

"Two elegant Scotsmen travelling together wore dashing kilts at dinner(같이 여행하는 두 우아한 스코틀랜드인은 저녁 식사에서 근사한 킬트를 입었다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'dashing'을 "attractive and fashionable in an exciting way(흥미진진하게 매력하고 패셔너블한)"라고 풀이했다.
