[영어 공부] deep pockets(충분한 재력, 강력한 자금원)

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'deep pockets'를 이렇게 정의했다. "If an organization or person has deep pockets, they have a lot of money(어떤 조직이나 개인이 deep pockets를 가졌다면, 돈이 많은 것이다)"

"Anyone who tries to save that company will need deep pockets(그 기업을 살리려고 노력하는 이는 누구든 충분한 재력이 필요할 것이다)."

콜린스 사전은 'deep pockets'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you say that a person or organization has deep pockets, you mean that they have a lot of money with which to pay for something(어떤 개인 또는 조직이 deep pockets를 가졌다면, 그들이 어떤 것에 값을 치를 돈이 많다는 뜻이다)"

"The church will do anything to avoid scandal – and everyone knows it has deep pockets(그 교회는 추문을 피하기 위해 무엇이든 할 것이고 그것이 충분한 재력이 있다는 사실은 누구나 안다)."

"...investors with deep pockets(...충분한 재력을 가진 투자자들)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'deep pockets'를  "a person or an organization having substantial financial resources(상당한 재정적 자원을 가진 개인 또는 조작)"라고 풀이했다.
