케임브릿지 사전은 'impish'를 "showing a child's pleasure in enjoying yourself and making trouble(즐거움을 느끼고 사고를 치는 데서 어린아이 같은 기쁨을 보이는)"이라고 정의했다.

"At 70, he still retains his impish grin(70세에도 그는 여전히 악동 같은 미소를 가지고 있다)."

콜린스 사전은 'impish'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you describe someone or their behaviour as impish, you mean that they are rather disrespectful or naughty in a playful way(어떤 사람 또는 그들의 행동을 impish라고 묘사한다면, 그들이 장난스럽게 무례하거나 버릇없다는 뜻이다)."

"Gillespie is well known for his impish sense of humour(길레스피는 악동같이 장난스러운 유머 감각으로 잘 알려져 있다)." 

맥밀란 사전은 'impish'를 "looking or behaving as though you are doing something slightly bad that people think is funny(다른 이들이 웃기다고 생각하는, 약간 나쁜 일을 하는 것처럼 보이거나 그렇게 행동하는)"라고 풀이했다.
