케임브릿지 사전은 'harp on (about sth)'을 "to talk or complain about something many times(어떤 것에 대해 여러 번 이야기하거나 불평하다)"라고 정의했다.

"He's always harping on about lack of discipline(그는 언제나 훈육의 부족에 대해 지껄인다)."

"I know you want to go to Paris. Don't keep harping on (about it)!(네가 파리에 가고 싶어 한다는 거 알아. 그 얘기만 계속하지 마!)"

콜린스 사전은 'harp on'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you say that someone harps on a subject, or harps on about it, you mean that they keep on talking about it in a way that other people find annoying(어떤 주제에 대해 harp on 하거나 harp on about 한다면, 다른 사람들이 짜증 날 정도로 그것에 관해 계속 이야기한다는 뜻이다)."

"Jones harps on this theme more than on any other(존스는 다른 것보다 자신의 테마에 관해 끊임없이 지껄인다)."
