케임브릿지 사전은 'splice'를 "to join two pieces of rope, film, etc. together at their ends in order to form one long piece(하나의 긴 부분을 형성하기 위해 두 개의 밧줄이나 필름 등의 끝을 잇다)"

"Scientists have discovered how to splice pieces of DNA(과학자들은 DNA의 조각을 잇는 방법을 발견했다)."
