케임브릿지 사전은 'rock bottom'을 "the lowest possible level(가능한 가장 낮은 지점)"이라고 정의했다.

"Confidence in the government is at rock bottom(정부에 대한 자신감이 바닥 수준이다)."

"Prices have reached rock bottom(가격이 최저점에 다다랐다)."

"They were selling the goods at rock-bottom prices(그들은 상품을 최저 가격에 팔고 있었다)."

"The president's approval ratings have hit rock bottom(대통령의 지지율은 바닥을 찍었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'rock bottom'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If something has reached rock bottom, it is at such a low level that it cannot go any lower(어떤 것이 rock bottom에 닿았다면, 아주 낮아서 더 이상 낮아질 수 없는 지점인 것이다)."
