케임브릿지 사전은 'raucuous'를 "loud and unpleasant(소리가 크고 불쾌한)"라고 정의했다.

"I heard the raucous call of the crows(나는 까마귀들의 요란한 울음소리를 들었다)."

"Raucous laughter came from the next room(요란한 웃음소리가 옆방에서 들려왔다)."

"The party was becoming rather raucous(그 파티는 다소 시끌벅적해지고 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'raucuous'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A raucous sound is loud, harsh, and rather unpleasant(raucuous한 소리는 크고, 귀에 거슬리며, 다소 불쾌한 것이다)."

"They heard a bottle being smashed, then more raucous laughter(그들은 병이 깨지는 소리와 그다음에는 더 요란한 웃음소리를 들었다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'raucuous'를 이렇게 풀이했다. "a raucous voice or noise is loud and sounds rough(raucuous한 목소리 또는 소음은 크고 거칠게 들리는 것이다)"
