케임브릿지 사전은 'roundabout'을 "not in a simple, direct, or quick way(단순하거나, 직접적이거나, 재빠르지 않은 방식으로)"이라고 정의했다.

"We took a roundabout route to avoid the accident(우리는 사고를 피하기 위해 우회로를 택했다)."

"He asked me, in a roundabout way, if he could have a salary increase(그는 연봉 인상을 받을 수 있을지를 빙 둘러 내게 물어보았다)."
