케임브릿지 사전은 'prattle'을 "to talk in a silly way or like a child for a long time about things that are not important or without saying anything important(중요하지 않은 일에 대해, 또는 중요한 것은 말하지 않으면서 바보처럼, 또는 아이처럼 오랫동안 말하다)"라고 정의했다.

"She'd have prattled on about her new job for the whole afternoon if I'd let her(그녀는 내가 놔두기만 했다면 오후 내내 자신의 새 일자리에 대해 계속 지껄였을 것이다)."
