케임브릿지 사전은 'cement'를 "to make something such as an agreement or friendship stronger(협정이나 우정 같은 것을 더 강하게 만들다)"라고 정의했다.

"The university's exchange scheme has cemented its links with many other academic institutions(그 대학의 교환 학생 프로그램은 다른 많은 학문 기관들과의 연결을 강화해 왔다)."

콜린스 사전은 'cement'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Something that cements a relationship or agreement makes it stronger(관계 또는 협정을 cement 하는 것은 그것을 더 강하게 만드는 것이다)."

"Nothing cements a friendship between countries so much as trade(무역만큼 국가 사이의 친선을 다지는 것은 없다)."
