케임브릿지 사전은 'handful'을 "a person, often a child, who is difficult to control(통제하기 힘든 사람, 대개는 아이)"이라고 정의했다.

"Her older son is fine but the little one is a bit of a handful(그녀의 장남은 괜찮지만, 막내는 좀 다루기 힘들다)."

콜린스 사전은 'handful'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you say that someone, especially a child, is a handful, you mean that they are difficult to control(어떤 사람, 특히 아이를 handful이라고 부르면, 그들이 통제하기 힘들다는 뜻이다)." 인포멀(informal)한 표현이다.

"Zara can be a handful sometimes(자라는 때로 다루기 힘들다)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'handful'을 "a person or an animal that is difficult to control(통제하기 어려운 사람 또는 동물)"이라고 풀이했다.
