케임브릿지 사전은 'uncontested'를 이렇게 정의했다. "If something is uncontested, no one tries to stop you doing it or no one tries to fight against or defend it(어떤 것에 uncontested하다면, 누구도 당신이 그걸 하는 일을 막거나, 그것에 반대해 싸우거나 그것을 옹호하려 하지 않는 것이다)"

"Their marriage ended in an uncontested divorce(그들의 결혼생활은 논란의 여지가 없는 이혼으로 끝이 났다)."

"He dribbled to the basket and scored with an uncontested layup(그는 바스켓까지 드리블을 해서 방해받지 않고 레이업으로 득점했다)."

 롱맨 사전은 'uncontested'를 이렇게 설명했다. "an uncontested action or statement is one that no one opposes or disagrees with(uncontested한 행동이나 발언은 누구도 반대하거나 의견을 달리하지 않는 것이다)"

"After an uncontested divorce, Peggy married Charlie(반대의 여지가 없는 이혼 후, 페기는 찰리와 결혼했다)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'uncontested'를 "​without any opposition or argument(반대나 논쟁 없이)"라고 풀이했다.
