케임브릿지 사전은 'bleeding-edge'를 "relating to or describing systems, devices, or ideas that are so modern that they are still being developed(아주 현대적이어서 아직 개발되는 중인 체계, 기기, 또는 아이이어 등과 관련된 또는 그것들을 묘사하는)"라고 정의했다.

"bleeding-edge technology(최첨단 기술)"

콜린스 사전은 'bleeding edge'를  이렇게 설명했다. "Bleeding-edge equipment or technology is the most advanced that there is in a particular field(bleeding-edge한 장비나 기술은 최고로 앞선 것이어서 특정한 분야가 있는 것이다)."

"...an RAF facility with bleeding-edge electronics and communications systems(...최첨단 전자 공학과 커뮤니케이션 시스템을 갖춘 영국 공군 시설)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'bleeding edge'를 "technology that is so advanced that there may be problems when you use it(아주 앞서 있어서, 사용하면 문제가 있을 수도 있을 정도의 기술)"이라고 풀이했다.
