케임브릿지 사전은 'floppy'를 "soft and not able to keep a firm shape or position(부드럽고 단단한 형태나 위치를 유지할 수 없는)"이라고 정의했다.

"a floppy hat(축 처진 모자)"

"a dog with big floppy ears(크고 축 처진 귀를 가진 강아지)"

"He's got floppy blond hair that's always falling in his eyes(그의 축 처진 금발 머리카락은 언제나 눈을 가린다)."

콜린스 사전은 'floopy'를 이렇게 설명했다. "Something that is floppy is loose rather than stiff, and tends to hang downwards(floppy한 것은 딱딱하기보다는 늘어지고, 아래로 축 처지는 경향이 있는 것이다)."
