프리딕셔너리는 'get into the spirit (of something)'을 "To show one's interest in enjoying a social event by dressing appropriately or participating in related activities(적절하게 차려입거나 관련된 활동에 참여함으로써 사교적인 사건을 즐기는 데 관심이 있음을 드러내다)."라고 정의했다.

"I specifically wore red and green to get into the spirt of Christmas(나는 크리스마스의 분위기를 만끽하기 위해 굳이 빨강과 녹색의 옷을 입었다)."

"Come on, dance with us! Get into the spirit!(그러지 말고, 우리랑 춤추자! 제대로 즐겨야지!)"

맥밀란 사전은 'enter/get into the spirit of something'을 "to take part in something with enthusiasm(열정을 가지고 어떤 것에 참여하다)"이라고 설명했다.
