케임브릿지 사전은 'touch up something'을 "to improve something with small changes(어떤 것을 조금 손보아서 낫게 만들다)"라고 정의했다.

"I had to touch up the paint job on my car(나는 내 차의 페인트칠을 조금 손보아야 했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'touch up'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you touch something up, you improve its appearance by covering up small marks with paint or another substance(어떤 것을 touch up 한다면, 작은 자국들을 페인트나 다른 물질으로 감추어서 외향을 낫게 만드는 것이다)."
