케임브릿지 사전은 'bash'를 "to hit hard(세게 치다)"라고 정의했다.

"He bashed his arm against a shelf(그는 선반에 팔을 세게 부딪쳤다)."

"I could hear her bashing away on the computer (= hitting the keys loudly)(나는 그녀가 키보드를 탁탁 쳐대는 소리를 들을 수 있었다)."

콜린스 사전은 'bash'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you bash something, you hit it hard in a rough or careless way(어떤 것을 bash 한다면, 그것을 거칠게, 또는 신경 쓰지 않고 세게 치는 것이다))." 인포멀(informal)한 표현이다.
