케임브릿지 사전은 'cavalier'를 "not considering other people's feelings or safety(다른 이들의 감정이나 안전을 고려하지 않는)"라고 정의했다.
"That's a rather cavalier attitude(그것참 무신경한 태도군요)."
콜린스 사전은 'cavalier'를 이렇게 설명헀다. "If you describe a person or their behaviour as cavalier, you are criticizing them because you think that they do not consider other people's feelings or take account of the seriousness of a situation(어떤 사람이나 그들의 행동을 cavalier 하다고 묘사한다면, 당신은 그들이 다른 이들의 감정을 묘사하거나 상황의 심각함을 고려하지 않는다고 생각해서 그들을 비난하는 것이다)." 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.
"The Editor takes a cavalier attitude to the concept of fact checking(편집자는 사실 확인이라는 개념에 무신경한 태도를 보인다)."
맥밀란 사전은 'cavalier'를 "not caring about other people’s feelings or about the seriousness of a situation(타인의 감정이나 상황의 심각함을 신경 쓰지 않는)"이라고 풀이했다.
