메리암웹스터 사전은 'air one's dirty laundry'를 "make one's problems known(자신의 문제를 드러내다)"이라고 정의했다.

"Let's not air our dirty laundry in public(대중에게 우리 치부를 드러내지는 맙시다)."

콜린스 사전은 'air one's dirty laundry'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you say that someone airs their dirty laundry in public, you disapprove of their discussing or arguing about unpleasant or private things in front of other people.
