케임브릿지 사전은 'regale'을 "to entertain someone with stories or jokes(어떤 사람을 이야기 또는 농담으로 즐겁게 하다)"라고 정의했다.

"Grandpa regaled us with tales of his small-town childhood(할아버지는 우리를 작은 동네에서 살던 당신의 어릴 적 이야기로 즐겁게 해 주셨다)."

콜린스 사전은 'regale'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If someone regales you with stories or jokes, they tell you a lot of them, whether you want to hear them or not(어떤 사람이 당신을 이야기나 농담으로 regale 한다면, 당신이 그걸 듣고 싶어 하든 말든, 그들이 당신에게 그것들을 많이 이야기해 주는 것이다)."
