케임브릿지 사전은 'cohort'를 "a group of people who support a particular person, usually a leader(특정한 사람, 대체로 리더를 지지하는 사람들의 그룹)"라고 정의했다.

"The Mayor and his cohorts have abused their positions of power(시장과 그의 지지자들은 직권을 남용했다)."

콜린스 사전은 'cohort'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A person's cohorts are their friends, supporters, or associates(어떤 사람의 cohorts는 그들의 친구, 지지자, 또는 동료들이다)." 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.
