케임브릿지 사전은 'nose in the air'를 "used to describe the way someone behaves when they think they are better than other people and do not want to speak to them(어떤 사람이 다른 사람들보다 더 우월하다고 생각하고 다른 이들에게 말하고 싶지 않을 때 이를 표현하려고 쓰이는 말)"이라고 정의했다.

"She walked past me with her nose in the air(그녀는 콧대를 들고 오만하게 나를 지나쳐갔다)."

콜린스 사전은 'with one's nose'를 "haughtily(오만하게)"라고 설명했다.

롱맨 사전은 'with your nose in the air'를 "behaving as if you are more important than other people and not talking to them(자신이 다른 사람들보다  더 중요하다는 듯이 행동하고, 다른 사람들에게 말하지 않는)"이라고 풀이했다.
