케임브릿지 사전은 'lap something up'을 "to enjoy something very much(어떤 것을 아주 많이 즐기다)"라고 정의했다.

"We walked around the city, lapping up the atmosphere(우리는 도시를 걸어다니며, 분위기를 즐겼다)."

"Everyone clapped and cheered and you could see he was lapping it up(모두들 박수를 치며 환호했고, 그도 이를 즐기는 게 보였다)."

콜린스 사전은 'lap up'을 이렇게 설명했다.
