케임브릿지 사전은 'untapped'를 이렇게 정의했다. "If a supply of something valuable is untapped, it is not yet used or taken advantage of(가치 있는 것의 공급이 untapped하다면, 그것이 사용되거나 이용되지 않은 것이다)"

"untapped assets/resources/markets/talent(아직 손대지 않은 자산/자원/시장들/재능)"

콜린스 사전은 'untapped'를 이렇게 설명했다. "An untapped supply or source of something has not yet been used(untapped한 공급 또는 무엇의 자원은 아직 사용되지 않은 것이다)."

"Mongolia, although poor, has considerable untapped resources of oil and minerals(몽골은 가난하지만 아직 사용되지 않은 석유와 광물의 상당한 자원을 가지고 있다)." 

"There is enormous, acknowledged and untapped potential in the Indian stock markets(인도 주식 시장에는 막대한, 인정받고 아직 사용되지 않은 가능성이 있다)." 

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'untapped'를 "available but not yet used(이용 가능하지만 아직 사용되지 않은)"라고 풀이했다.
