케임브릿지 사전은 'a feather in your cap'을 "an achievement to be proud of(자랑할 만한 성취)"라고 정의했다.

"It's a real feather in our cap to be playing in the state championship(주 선수권 대회에 나가게 되는 것은 정말 훌륭한 업적이다)."

콜린스 사전은 'feather in one's cap'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you describe something that someone has achieved as a feather in their cap, you mean that they can be proud of it or that it might bring them some advantage(어떤 사람이 성취한 것을 a feather in one's cap이라고 표현한다면, 그들이 그것을 자랑스러워하거나 그것이 그들에게 이득을 가져다준다는 뜻이다)."

롱맨 사전은 'a feather in your cap'을 "something you have done that you should be proud of(당신이 자랑스러워해야 할, 당신이 이룬 일)"라고 풀이했다.
