케임브릿지 사전은 'mooch'를 "to borrow from people or ask them to give you things without paying for them or intending to return them(갚거나 되돌려 주려는 의도 없이, 무엇을 빌리거나 달라고 하다)"이라고 정의했다.

"You're old enough to get a job and stop mooching off your family(너는 일자리를 구하고 가족에게 얹혀 살지 않을 정도로 나이가 들었잖아)."

"He mooched a few beers from me as we watched the game(그는 우리가 경기를 보는 동안 맥주 몇 잔을 얻어 마셨다)."

롱맨 사전은 'mooch'를 "to get something by asking someone to give you it, instead of paying for it(돈을 내는 대신, 상대에게 무엇을 달라고 해서 얻다)"이라고 설명했다.

"He tried to mooch a drink off me(그는 술을 한잔 내게서 공짜로 얻어먹으려고 했다)."

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'mooch'를 "to get money, food, etc. from somebody else instead of paying for it yourself(스스로 값을 치르기보다, 돈이나 음식 등을 다른 사람에게서 얻다)"라고 풀이했다.
