케임브릿지 사전은 'stalwart'를 "loyal, especially for a long time; able to be trusted(충실한, 특히 아주 오랫동안 그러한; 믿을 수 있는)"라고 정의했다.

"She has been a stalwart supporter of the party for many years(그녀는 수년간 그 당의 충실한 지지자였다)."

콜린스 사전은 'stalwart'를 이렇게 설명했다. "A stalwart supporter or worker is loyal, steady, and completely reliable(stalwart한 지지자 또는 노동자는 충실하고, 꾸준하며, 완전히 믿을 수 있는 사람이다)."

"...a stalwart supporter of the colonial government(...식민 정부의 충실한 지지자)." 

"The stalwart volunteers marched in this morning ready to go to work(충실한 자원봉사자들이 오늘 아침 일할 준비가 된 상태로 행진했다)." 

옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'stalwart'를 "​always showing support and able to be relied on, even in a difficult situation(어려운 상황에서도, 언제나 지지를 보이고 의지할 수 있는)"이라고 풀이했다.
