케임브릿지 사전은 'gambol'을 "to run and jump in a happy way(행복하게 달리고 뛰다)"라고 정의했다.

"Lambs were gambolling about in the spring sunshine(양들은 봄볕에 뛰어다녔다)."

"On the wide-open beaches, the puppies could gambol around to their hearts' content(드넓게 펼쳐진 해변에서 강아지들은 마음껏 뛰어다닐 수 있다)."

콜린스 사전은 'gambol'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If animals or people gambol, they run or jump about in a playful way(동물이나 사람들이 gambol 한다면, 장난스럽게 달리거나 뛰어다니는 것이다)."
