케임브릿지 사전은 'snooty'를 "behaving in an unfriendly way because you believe you are better than other people(당신이 다른 사람들보다 낫다고 믿기 때문에 불친절하게 행동하는)"이라고 정의했다.

"She was one of those really snooty sales assistants that you often find in expensive shops(그녀는 대체로 값비싼 상점에서 볼 수 있는, 아주 오만한 판매직 직원들 중 하나였다)."

콜린스 사전은 'snooty'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you say that someone is snooty, you disapprove of them because they behave as if they are superior to other people(어떤 사람이 snooty하다면, 그들이 다른 사람들보다 우월하듯 굴기 때문에 그들을 못마땅하게 여기는 것이다)." 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.

​옥스퍼드 학습자 사전은 'snooty'를 "treating people as if they are not as good or as important as you(타인을 당신만큼 가치가 있거나 중요하지 않은 존재처럼 대하는)"라고 풀이했다.

"She was frightfully snooty and superior(그녀는 무서울 정도로 오만하고 거만했다)."
