케임브릿지 사전은 'a slap in the face'를 "an insult, esp. when it comes as a surprise(특히 뜻밖의 일로 다가오는 모욕)"라고 정의했다.

콜린스 사전은 'a slap in the face'를 이렇게 설명했다.
